Honey Inhibits Mast Cell Degranulation: Implication for Management of Cystitis
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Hypothesis / aims of study This study compares inhibition of mast cell degranulation between panels of honey preparations and conventional topical treatments used against painful bladder syndrome/ interstitial cystitis (PBS/IC). The hypothesis underpinning these experiments is that the anti-inflammatory action of honey is different from that of the conventional agents, offering the possibility of alternative or combination treatments for PBS/IC.

CNS induced neurogenic cystitis is associated with bladder mast cell degranulation in the rat.
PURPOSE To determine if bladder mast cell degranulation is involved in the genesis of neurogenic cystitis induced by pseudorabies virus (PRV) invasion of the central nervous system (CNS). MATERIALS AND METHODS Rats received a total of 4 x 106 plaque forming units (pfu) of PRV-Bartha in the abductor caudalis dorsalis (ACD) muscle. Granulated bladder mast cells per mm2 of bladder tissue and uri...

Objective(s) Aristolochia indica has been widely used in the traditional medicine for the treatment of a variety of diseases. In the present study different extracts of roots of A. indica were evaluated for their antiinflammatory, antipruritic and mast cell stabilizing activity. Materials and Methods Anti-inflammatory activity was performed by compound 48/80 induced rat paw edema model and ...
متن کاملCritical role of mast cells in inflammatory diseases and the effect of acute stress.
Mast cells are not only necessary for allergic reactions, but recent findings indicate that they are also involved in a variety of neuroinflammatory diseases, especially those worsened by stress. In these cases, mast cells appear to be activated through their Fc receptors by immunoglobulins other than IgE, as well as by anaphylatoxins, neuropeptides and cytokines to secrete mediators selectivel...

متن کاملMCP-1-Induced Histamine Release from Mast Cells Is Associated with Development of Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome in Rat Models
OBJECTIVE Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is characterized by overexpression of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) in bladder tissues and induction of mast cell (MC) degranulation. This study was undertaken to explore the mechanism of action of MCP-1 in the development of IC/BPS. METHODS A rat model of IC/BPS was developed by perfusing bladders of nine SPF- grade ...
